that each one may receive what is due him for the things

The Brink

People will oppress each other— man against man,
neighbor against neighbor. The young will rise
up against the old, the base against the honorable.

Isaiah 3:5

According to Isaiah 3:5 a society which fails to honor
the old is on the brink of destruction.

The Book of Leviticus by Gordon J. Wenham P.273

A Polished Arrow

He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand
he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his
quiver. He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will
display my splendor.” But I said, “I have labored to no purpose; I
have spent my strength in vain and for nothing. Yet what is due me
is in the Lord’s hand, and my reward is with my God.”
Isaiah 49:2-4

He Pierced My Heart

He drew his bow and made me the target for his arrows.

He pierced my heart with arrows from his quiver.

Lamentations 3:12,13
