
The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the
shadow of death a light has dawned.
Isaiah 9:2

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign:
The Virgin will be with child and give birth to
a son, and will call him Immanuel.

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

See, O Lord, how distressed I am!

Because of the Lord’s great love we
are not consumed, for his compassion’s never
fail.

has been tuned by the gracious hand of Jehovah can
sing in the darkness. The things of earth may
satisfy for the hours of prosperity; but only the
peace of God can give gladness in the darkness of
adversity.

God gives joy in sorrow; and when the
sad one sings through his tears, then the Lord comes
out to him with new and more tender assurances, so that
by his very hymn he is made more gladsome. That which is born

These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children
unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction.

This is what
the Sovereign Lord,… says: “In repentance and rest is your
salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you
would have none of it.”
Isaiah 30:9,15

This is what the Lord says-…:
“I am the Lord your God,
who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the
way you should go.”
Isaiah 48:17

Rescue me, O Lord, from evil men; protect me from men of violence
who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up war every day.

They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s; the poison of
vipers is on their lips.

Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from
men of violence who plan to trip my feet.

Proud men have hidden a snare for me; they have spread out the
cords of their net and have set traps for me along my path.
O Lord, I say to you, “You are my God.” Hear, O Lord, my cry for
mercy.
O Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer, who shields my head in the
day of battle-

Do not grant the wicked their desires, O Lord; do not let their
plans succeed, or they will become proud.
